These are the subjects and content area the students will be studying this
week. Please make sure that your child goes over these areas of study with you.
Virtue of the Month: Respect and Responsibility. *
Saxon Math: Lessons 6-10 on estimating length to the nearest inch, drawing congruent line segments, identifying the properties of a rectangle, ordering two-digit numbers, and identifying even and odd numbers, using logical reasoning to solve a problem, and making an organized list to solve a problem. *
History: Unit on Canada, Lesson 3-Places in Canada. *
Religion: Session 2: Created to be together.
Science: Classification of Animals – the characteristics of mammals, fish, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. *
Literature: Gloria Who Might Be My Best Friend, Knowledge about friendship. Fiction and Nonfiction. Phonics- Lesson 2- on vowels. Go over September book report form and terms. *
English: Discuss what the sayings: “actions speak louder than words” and “his bark is worse than his bite” means. Phonics- vowels, twin consonants, short and long vowel sounds, breve and macron. *
Vocab./ Spelling: We have not received our Vocabulary books yet. We will start as soon as they arrive. Spelling Lesson 2 – on short and long vowel sounds in spelling. Spelling Test on Friday. *
Art & Music: Animal art. Music starts on Tuesday!
Computers: Computer classes on Monday- rules.
Check folder for: Reminders, information for Sept., and completed and corrected work to be filed in the children’s 3-ring binder.
Reminders: Our class will be going to mass every Wednesday morning starting this week. Please drop your child off at the church by 7:55. The third grade In Home Meeting is Thursday, Sept. 20th at 6:30 P.M. at the Lutosky’s home. I’m looking forward to seeing you all there! Have a great week!
