These are the subjects and content area the students
will be studying this
week.
Please make sure that your child goes over these areas of study with
you.
Virtue of the Month: Self Control and Self Discipline. *
Saxon Math: Lessons 29-32 and Assessment 6 - on reading and
shading temperatures to the nearest 2 degrees Fahrenheit, tallying and
collecting data, estimating the sum of two-digit numbers, measuring and drawing
line segments using centimeters. *
History: World Rivers- Lesson 5- Wildlife and Rivers and
Lesson 6- The Parana, Congo, and Yukon Rivers and many waterfalls. *
Religion: Session 7- on Following Jesus. Reconciliation and healing, anointing
of the sick, venial and mortal sins.
How to look up scriptures in the Bible.
Science:
The skeletal and Muscular System. We will assemble a skeleton and talk
about the parts of a bone *
Literature: Learn the sayings: “Beat around the bush.” and
“Beggars can’t be choosers. Continue reading Bunnicula. *
English: Saxon Phonics- Lesson 7 on syllable division-
accent, schwa, and final c. Working on writing their mini research reports on
their animal. ITBS Testing. *
Vocab./ Spelling: Unit 2 in vocab. on definitions, synonyms and
antonyms on words, completing the sentence and word associations.
Spelling Test on Friday. *
Art & Music: We will assemble skeletons. “The Scream” by Edvard Munch. They will be making their own emotion
drawing and discussing Expressionists.
Music- Musical notation and Beethoven. *
Check folder for: Reminders, information for Oct., and corrected
work to be filed in their 3 ring binders.
Reminders: ITBS Testing will be completed in the morning hours of Monday
– Wednesday this week. Please make
sure your child is on time to school and well rested. All School Family Mass is
this Sunday Oct. 21st at 11:00. Come join us!
