Curriculum Guide for the Week of October 22- 26th


Date: Oct. 22, 2012

These are the subjects and content area the students will be studying this
week.  Please make sure that your child goes over these areas of study with you.

Virtue of the Month: Self Control and Self Discipline.  *

Saxon Math: Lessons 31-35 and Assessment 6 on estimating, measuring and drawing line segments using centimeters, adding a multiple of ten to a number using mental computation, ordering three-digit numbers, adding 5 and 6, and writing story problems for “some, some more” and “some, some went away stories.” 

History: Lesson 7- Rivers and trade.  World Rivers review.  Start a river fill in the blank report on one of the rivers we learned about.  *
                                                         
Religion: Start preparation for First Reconciliation. Chapter 1- on we are called to serve one another.   

Science: The skeletal System and the joints: ball and socket, hinge, and sliding joints.  We will build a model of a leg and attach muscles to it seeing how the muscles actually work.  *

Socratic Seminar:  on The Scream by Edvard Munch.

Literature: We will read Halloween stories and Ghostly Tales from Folklore.  Continue reading Bunnicula.  *
                                                        
English:  Grammar pages on statements and questions.  Phonics- Lesson 8- on vowel digraphs.  *
                                                 
Vocab./ Spelling:  Unit 2 in vocab. on definitions, synonyms and antonyms on words, completing the sentence and word associations. Spelling- Lesson 8- on vowel digraphs.  Spelling Test and Vocabulary Test on Friday.  *

Art: We will finish up our Halloween decoration pots and Turkey centerpieces for the Senior luncheon Nov. 2nd. 

Check folder for: Reminders, information for Oct., and corrected work to be filed in their 3 ring binders.
