Curriculum Guide for the Week of November 12- 16


Date: Nov. 12, 2012

These are the subjects and content area the students will be studying this
week.  Please make sure that your child goes over these areas of study with you.

Virtue of the Month: Appreciation and Wonder for the Beauty of our World. *

Saxon Math: Lessons 46-48 on identifying freezing and boiling points of water and normal body temperature, using comparison symbols (<, >, and =), and identifying horizontal, vertical and oblique lines and line segments.  *

History: Unit on The Earliest Americans.  Lesson 3- People of the far north- the Inuits, and Lesson 4- Anasazi and the Mound Builders. Talk about Veteran’s Day and the first Thanksgiving. *
                                                         
Religion: Preparation for First Reconciliation.  Chapters 5 and 6 on we are forgiven, reconciliation, penance, absolution, and how we share reconciliation with others.  First Reconciliation Service is Monday, November 26.  Thanksgiving and gratitude. 

Science:  Test on the muscular and skeletal system Wednesday.  *
                                                      
Literature: Continue reading and finish Bunnicula. Thanksgiving stories.  Phonics- No phonics due to it being a short week and Jog-a-Thon on Friday.  *

English: Write an acrostic poem about Thanksgiving and a creative writing story on Thanksgiving.  *
                                                 
Vocab./ Spelling: Unit 1-4 Review on definitions, synonyms and antonyms of words, completing the sentence and word associations. No Spelling Test on Friday due to the Jog-a-thon and Monday holiday.  *

Art & Music: We will make Indian corn necklaces.  Music- learn and practice songs for the Christmas performance. *

Check white envelope for: Reminders, information for Nov., and corrected work to be filed in their 3 ring binders. 

Reminders: No school on Monday to honor Veteran’s Day.  All School Mass is on Thursday morning at 8:00.  PA Meeting is Wednesday evening at 7:00 at the Parish Hall.  Jog-A-Thon is on Friday at Robb Field with 12:00 dismissal from there. Letter to me Book Report due November 30th.  Have a great week and a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your family and friends.  I am thankful for each and every one of you!
