Curriculum Guide for the week of November 26-30


November 26, 2012

These are the subjects and content area the students will be studying this
week.  Please make sure that your child goes over these areas of study with you.

Virtue of the Month: Appreciation and Wonder for the Beauty of our World.  *

Saxon Math: Lessons 47-50 and Assessment 9 –on using comparison symbols (<, >, and =), identifying horizontal, vertical, and oblique lines, and finding perimeter.  *

History: The Earliest Americans – Chapters 5 and 6 on the Anasazi and the Mound Builders, after the Anasazi, and after the Mound Builders. *

Science: We will start unit on the nervous system and the senses.  Complete an activity about “walking on nerves.”  We will make a book about our brain and the 3 main parts, and discuss reflex responses. *

Religion: Reconciliation Preparation.  The First Thanksgiving and gratitude.  First Reconciliation sacrament is Monday at 5:30 at the church.  *

Literature: We will start reading Pocahontas and the Strangers.  Phonics- Lesson 11- on vowel y.  *
                                                        
English: Reviewing parts of a letter for November Book Report and addressing of an envelope.  Due Friday, November 30th.  *

Vocab./ Spelling: Unit 5 on definitions, synonyms and antonyms of words, completing the sentence and word associations. Spelling- Lesson 11 on words with vowel y.  Spelling Test on Friday.  *

Art & Music: We will be making Native American sand art and masks. 
Music- learn and practice songs for the Christmas performance. *

Check white envelope for: Reminders, information for Nov. and Dec., and corrected work to be filed in their 3 ring binders. 

Reminders: Letter to me Book Report is due Friday, November 30th.  Bunko Dinner Fund Raiser for the 8th grade is Friday at the parish hall.  Ocean Beach Parade is on Saturday eve.  SHA will have a float in it.  Have a great week!
