Curriculum Guide for the week of December 10-14


Date: Dec. 10, 2012

These are the subjects and content area the students will be studying this
week.  Please make sure that your child goes over these areas of study with you.

Virtue of the Month: Charity. *

Saxon Math: Lessons 56- 60 and Assessment 11 on equal group stories, drawing pictures and writing number sentences for equal group stories, identifying and drawing lines of symmetry, writing division problems in three ways, dividing by 10, 7, and by 1, identifying quotients, subtraction facts of 2.  *

History: Review of the Earliest Americans.  Test on Wednesday.  *
                                                         
Religion:  Advent- Waiting for Jesus.  The Advent tradition, the colors of advent, preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus.  Charity.

Science : Parts of the eye and ear and how they work.  *
                                                      
Literature: Finish reading Goliath’s Christmas. Start Very Merry Christmas Tales.  Read and discuss Pocahontas, The story of Silent Night. Sayings: clean bill of health, cold shoulder, and when in Rome, do as the Romans do. *
                                                        
English: Phonics – Lesson 13 on the floss rule.  *

Vocab./ Spelling: Unit 5 on definitions, synonyms and antonyms on words, completing the sentence and word associations. Spelling Lesson 12 –words. With the floss rule.   Spelling Test on Friday. *

Art & Music: Christmas decorations and crafts. Music- Christmas performance Dec. 19th. 

Computers: Computer class Tuesday.  See SHA website for curriculum. 

Check folder for: Reminders, information for Dec. and Jan., and corrected work to be filed in their 3 ring binders.
