These are the subjects and content area the students will be studying this
week. Please make sure that your child goes over these areas of study with
you.
Virtue of the Month: Courage. *
Saxon Math: Lessons 68-72 and Assessment 13 on writing numbers to 1,000
using words, adding and subtracting multiples of 100, looking for a pattern to
solve a problem, multiplication facts by 2, drawing and reading a line graph,
telling and showing time to the minute, and rounding to the nearest hundred. *
History: Ancient Rome- Lessons 3, 4, and 5 on the Roman Republic, the Punic
Wars, and Julius Caesar. Read and discuss about Martin Luther King Jr. *
Science: Start Unit on Space and the Solar System. *
Religion: Session 12 on the Catholic Church- serving the world in Godʼs name,
the church is holy, who am I?, apostolic, and Marks of the church.
Literature: Read and discuss the book The Magic School Bus, Lost in the Solar
System. Go over the saying, “ When in Rome do as the Romans do.” *
English: Journal writing. Phonics- Lesson 15 – on diphthongs. Cursive
handwriting a, o, c, and d. Grammar- common and proper nouns. *
Vocab./ Spelling: Vocab. Unit 6 on definitions, synonyms and antonyms on
words, completing the sentence and word associations. Spelling Lesson 15
Test on Fri. on spelling with se and ce. *
Art & Music: Art- Make Ancient Roman Mosaics. Music- class on Tuesday. *
Check folder for: Reminders, information for Jan., and corrected work to be filed
in their 3 ring binders.
Reminders: Field Trip to the SD Nursing Lab is Tuesday morning. Have a
super week!
