These are the subjects and content area the students
will be studying this
week.
Please make sure that your child goes over these areas of study with
you.
Virtue of the Month: Perseverance *
Saxon Math: Lessons 81-85 and Assessment 16 on reading and
showing the temperature on the Celsius scale, identifying the number of days in
each month and year, the commutative property of multiplication, and
identifying the number of inches in a foot and in a yard, feet in a yard, and
centimeters in a meter. *
Science: Astronomy- Our Solar System, the Universe, and
Planets. *
Social Studies: Ancient Rome. Read and
discuss Chapters 12- 15 on Gladiators and Chariot Races, Pompeii, and the
Romans and the Christians. Read
and discuss about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington for President’s Day. *
Religion: Session 16 and 17 on Sacraments, Our Way of
Life, Saint Paul the Apostle, sacraments of initiation, celebrating
reconciliation, and the peace of forgiveness.
Literature:
Start unit study on My Father’s Dragon. Oral Book Report is due this month, February 28th.

Journal writing. Phonics-
Lesson 19 on words with continental a. Nouns- common and proper. Cursive handwriting. *
Vocab./ Spelling: Vocab. Unit 7 on definitions, synonyms and
antonyms on words, completing the sentence and word associations. Spelling Lesson 19. Test
on Friday and Vocab. Test- Unit 7 Test on Friday. *
Art & Music: Valentine art, space art. *
Check white folder for: Reminders, information for Feb., and corrected
work to be filed in their 3 ring binders.
Reminders: Monday is the 100th day of
school! Wednesday is Ash
Wednesday. We will walk down to
the church for mass at 10:00. We
will have a Valentine’s Day party on Thursday at 2:00. The children may pass out Valentine
cards and a treat if they want to the class. We will also be decorating cookies and doing some Valentine
crafts. Have a Super week!
