Curriculum Guide for the Week of March 25 - 29


Sacred Heart Academy 

Third Grade Curriculum Update

March 25, 2013 

Virtue of the Month:  Faithfulness  * 

These are the subjects and content area the students will be studying this  
week.  Please make sure that your child goes over these areas of study with 
you.  

Saxon Math: Lessons 105- 107 on identifying perpendicular lines and line 
segments, adding money amounts to $99,999.99, acting out and drawing 
pictures and writing number sentences for division story problems.  * 

Science: Finish up Unit on Light and Color.  Test on Wednesday.  * 

History: Unit on the Vikings – Lesson 5 on Leif Ericson and review of Eric the 
Red.  * 

Socratic Seminar:  Chapter 14- on They Share the Work- Being Good and 
Honest.  * 

Religion: Preparation for the sacrament of First Communion. The children will be 
practicing receiving the host and wine after mass on Wednesday.  Holy Week
Good Friday, Holy Thursday, Holy Saturday, The Resurrection, the road to 
Emmaus, and Easter!  Communion Poster is due this Thursday!   

Literature:  Read and discuss the story: Ramona the Pest.  Write a summary of 
the chapter read.  * 

English:  Journal writing. Cursive handwriting. Review of Phonics and coding.  * 

Vocab./ Spelling: There will be no new spelling words or vocab. words this week 
due to the short week.  * 

Art: Easter art, finish up Viking ships and profile collages. * 

Check white envelope for: Reminders, information for March and April, 
 and completed work to be filed in their 3 ring binders.   

Reminders: Stations of the cross is on Thursday at 10:00. Thursday school is
dismissed at 12:00 and Friday we have no school.  Enjoy your Easter break with 
your family and friends.  Happy Easter!  He is risen, Alleluia!  Alleluia!
