Third Grade Curriculum Update

Virtues of the Month: Graciousness and Courtesy. *
These are the subjects and content area the students will be studying this
week. Please make sure that your child goes over these areas of study with
you.
Saxon Math: Lessons 108-111 on writing number sentences for division story
problems, multiplying a multiple of 10, 100, or 1,000 by a single-digit number,
multiplying by 9, identifying transformations: translation, rotation, and reflection,
and identifying a fractional part of a set, determining age. *
Science: Finish up Unit on Light and Color - Go over tests and make corrections.
We are going to the Ocean Beach Library for an Energy Explorers workshop with
the Reuben H. Fleet Science Museum on Wednesday! *
History: Complete Unit on the Vikings – Review for Viking Test on Thursday.
Finish making their Viking ships. *
Religion: Session 19 and 21 on Christian Living, the sacraments, your vocation
and gifts and talents, Morality, our lived faith, faith, hope and charity, and virtues.
Literature: Read and discuss the story: Ramona the Pest. Write a summary of
the chapter read. *
English: Journal writing. Cursive handwriting. Phonics- Lesson 25 on Final
stable syllables. *
Vocab./ Spelling: Vocab.- Unit 10 on definitions, synonyms and antonyms of
words, completing the sentence and word associations. Spelling- Lesson 25 on
spelling words with the final stable syllables- tion, ture, sion, tious, and cious.
Test on Friday *
Art: Stained glass crosses. Finish up their Viking ships and profile collages. *
Check white envelope for: Reminders, information for April, April and Mayʼs
Book Report letter, and completed work to be filed in their 3 ring binders.
Reminders: Half day of school is on Friday with dismissal at noon. Free dress is
also Friday. Report Cards go home on Friday! Be looking for them. Mater Deiʼs
Track Meet is this Saturday which begins at 9:00!
